Captain Jack Sparrow was Muslim? Nah… er… Yeah…

FILM Depp 2

1. The Real Captain Jack

“The legendary Captain Jack Birdy, once sung about by every balladeer in England, might have all but been forgotten, yet his memory remains as the spirit behind the fictional character Captain Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise… Who was John Ward, the British Naval officer? Who was Captain John Ward, the privateer endorsed by the Crown of England? Who was Captain Jack Birdy, the privateer turned pirate betrayed by that same Crown? And finally, who was Yusuf Reis, formerly Captain Jack Birdy, formerly Captain John Ward, who would rescue thousands upon thousands of Spanish Jews and Muslims fleeing the Moriscos and Conversos expulsion of the 16th and 17th centuries? These were all one man. With so many characters wrapped in one, the stories of his adventures are exponentially more exciting than anything a Hollywood film could capture…” Read More here >

Compare and Contrast: How do you kill a vampire?

(Exhibit 1: Dracula Untold trailer 2014, above)

Tread carefully through this museum of the macabre to unravel fact from fiction. Who was Dracula? Explore how the storytelling omits the ‘Muslim’ bit. And when it adds it in, Islamophobia mesmerises… it whitewashes the soul right out of you until you too are a lifeless, unthinking slave of the corporate bloodsuckers. But at least your vamp looks cool. Because looks are deceiving.

So QUESTION: How do you kill a vampire?

POSSIBLE ANSWERS (Check the 10 exhibits for the factional answer):

  1. Use garlic
  2. Thrust a stake through its heart; sever its head; burn the corpse
  3. Muslims required

Why Mainstream Muslims Don’t Appear on the Mainstream Media

Dear Darryl,

You raised the following issues (See last post). I’ve tried to address some of them (here) below each of your main concerns:

1. With reference to IS (ISIS) and their ilk: “The crazy brigade are growing, and they’re getting crazier. And “this whole thing is wrong.” And “Personally, I find it quite frightening.” And “I don’t know what the answer is, but these are worrying times imo.”

Agreed, mate.

Although we should try and not be afraid /worried (which, I know, might be tricky) but instead we should try and understand things deeper (as you’re attempting, as am I) in order to be a source of healing (Godwilling) in these troubled times. (Note to self:) Small steps… Patience. Perseverance. Don’t stop… Keep going…

2. “I read newspapers, and watch the news

The majority of newspapers and TV news is part of the mainstream media, which has no interest in Muslims doing “everyday good-deeds” because such news will not sell papers. Sorry. Reality-check. Continue reading

Can you spot the difference between Propaganda and Public Information? [Media 1 of 6]

How can we tell the difference between Public Information and Propaganda? With the increased use of social media, how are politicians using Facebook and Twitter to influence you in this techno-savvy age? The importance of the answer is all to do with our awareness (or lack thereof) of the manipulations by the state, for instance, to ‘get into’ (that is to say, ‘to influence’, ‘to control’) our minds. Does this not bother you?

What was CISPA?

CISPA has been very recently halted… But did you know?:

“While news media was focused on the [Boston Bombing], the U.S. House of Representatives quietly approved CISPA [Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act], with a vote of 288 to 127.” (Source)

CONCLUSION 1: Keep an eye on what the government are trying to pass through to legislation when a ‘panic’ hits the media.

“We can relax now that CISPA is dead, right? Unfortunately, the answer is a little unclear at this point. An unnamed representative on Rockefeller’s committee says that “issues and key provisions” of CISPA will be divvied up and made into separate bills. In other words, CISPA will be broken up into smaller, separate bills in the Senate.” (Source)

Another report says that staff and senators are dividing the issues and the key provisions that are absolutely necessary and they’ll be drafting separate bills.” (Source)

CONCLUSION 2: The damaging elements of CISPA can still make it through into legislation. But doing it this way is clever by being harder to spot and track…
